Jared Bernstein*, former director, Living Standards program, Economic Policy Institute. Bernstein discusses the pressure points on family budgets and explain how recent business cycles have both benefited families and left them vulnerable. Bernstein is the author of the 2008 book, "Crunch: Why Do I Feel So Squeezed? (And Other Unsolved Economic Mysteries)," and the co-author of the ongoing book series, "The State of Working America."

Sandra J. Newman, professor and director, Johns Hopkins Institute for Policy Studies.
Newman discusses new research findings on how housing choices affect children and families. Newman has done extensive research on the role of housing in the lives of families, children and disabled populations. Her work includes the 2005 report, "Low-End Rental Housing" and the 1999 book, "The Home Front: The Implications of Welfare Reform for Housing Policy."
