The compendium provides a state-by-state analysis of child care Quality Rating Systems.
A QRS designates a quality rating for a child care program and promotes transparency for programs that receive public funding. The compendium, released in April 2010, profiles 26 child care QRSs. The profiles offer insight into how states implement and evaluate the rating system.
The Compendium of Quality Rating Systems and Evaluations is a product of a QRS assessment project commissioned by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The compendium will supplement the other elements of the on-going project. Designed to measure, monitor and promote high-quality child care, the QRS assessment project includes a multi-case study of selected QRS, secondary data analysis and a paper.
